Assistant Management Accountant

Acorn is currently seeking an Assistant Management Account to help in preparing and reporting management accounts.

The ideal candidate would be ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA qualified or part-qualified, with knowledge of SAP S4/HANA and Cognos BI.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure all finance transactional activities are processed by the Group Finance Shared Service Centre.
  • Support the Head of Finance in preparing the monthly management accounts and group reporting.
  • Manage accruals and prepayments.
  • Perform weekly cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, manage the Deferred VAT account, and handle any queries with HMRC.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including thorough reviews of GRNI, down payments, key accounts for specific suppliers, and payroll/pension accounts.
  • Provide support on all audit requests by collating and retrieving necessary documentation.
  • Supervise daily reconciliation of bank accounts and allocations to customer accounts, serving as the main point of contact for local finance-related queries.
  • Oversee the preparation of weekly/monthly BACS runs in line with cash flow.
  • Make payments as required using the banking portal.
  • Supervise all credit control processes, including cash allocation to customer accounts and debt chasing as needed.
  • Perform any other ad hoc duties as required by the business.
  • Process monthly payroll and all associated activities, including pension management.

Essential requirements

  • Impressive communication and organisational skills.
  • Notable team player qualities.
  • Qualified or part-qualified in ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
  • Over 3 years of experience in a comparable role.
  • Proficient in problem analysis and resolution.
  • Experience using MS Office especially Excel.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in working with Finance packages, including SAP S4 HANA and Cognos BI.

Hours and benefits

  • 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
  • 8.00 am to 5.00 pm with an hour lunch.
  • There is also the opportunity for a 2 day a week hybrid working week after probation.
