Senior Marketing & Communications Officer

Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of a passionate team, this is an exciting role if you have marketing and communications experience and are looking to develop your career with a high-profile charitable organisation.

You'll support Ickworth Estate by promoting what we do, across the full marketing mix - through media relations, social media and web content. With your help we can share our charity work in caring for the nation's heritage and landscapes, making them accessible to all.

This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Experiences & Visitor Programming Manager, you'll join the Visitor Experience team. Your line manager will give you the support you need to feel confident and give you a tailored personal development plan to grow your career in the National Trust.

We are at our busiest when the public is as its leisure, please expect to work the occasional weekend and occasional national holiday as part of supporting the wider property team. We would be happy to explore a hybrid working arrangement. Your main base will be at Ickworth and expect attendance on site for the role each week.

What you'll be doing

You'll be responsible for planning all marketing and communications activity at Ickworth Estate. You'll be planning, creating, editing, proof-reading, co-ordinating, collating and sharing content for offline and online channels. You'll work on our website and support our social media activity, sharing fascinating stories about the work we do with the media and enticing visitors to come back?season after season.

You'll play a role in supporting the upskilling of other colleagues in relation to marketing and lead on gathering content from each department to feed into a wider, annual marketing programme.

You'll be an ambassador for the Trust sharing our values and working as a team to link everything we do back to our cause.

Overall, it's a diverse and challenging role and a great step for those wanting to pursue a career in Marcomms.??

Who we're looking for

To deliver this role successfully, you'll need:

  • Practical experience in a marketing and communications role, with a good understanding of how different channels can be used effectively and how to develop a marcomms plan
  • Good eye for design and presentation, with an understanding of brand management
  • Experience in creating, using and editing content across different channels (web, social, media, PR, email), based on audience insight and evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of information shared
  • Good team player, able to motivate others and build strong relationships
