Surveying Lecturer

A reputable educational institution in Shrewsbury is seeking a Surveying Lecturer to join the Construction Department. The role involves delivering the surveying element of Level 3, Level 4, T Level, and HTQ courses. The position is for 9 hours per week over two days, with the potential to increase to 12 hours. The ideal candidate will be competent in using surveying instruments, transcribing results to a computer, and confident in IT.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Teach construction and the built environment, specialising in land surveying and geospatial survey work.
- Contribute to a range of units under the guidance of the curriculum director and team.
- Undertake administrative tasks associated with student learning programmes, including preparation, marking, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date syllabuses and schemes of work.
- Set, mark, and moderate examinations and assignments as required by examining bodies.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to the development, planning, and organisation of courses.
- Engage in marketing and promotional activities, including liaison with employers and external bodies.
- Undertake research and consultancy work as agreed.
- Comply with health and safety policies and promote the college's strategic plan objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Surveying qualification and extensive experience in land surveying.
- Experience using Total Station is essential.
- Knowledge of land surveying techniques and geospatial information systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.
