A reputable educational institution in Shrewsbury is seeking a Surveying Lecturer to join the Construction Department. The role involves delivering the surveying element of Level 3, Level 4, T Level, and HTQ courses. The position is for 9 hours per week over two days, with the potential to increase to 12 hours. The ideal candidate will be competent in using surveying instruments, transcribing results to a computer, and confident in IT.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Teach construction and the built environment, specialising in land surveying and geospatial survey work.
  • Contribute to a range of units under the guidance of the curriculum director and team.
  • Undertake administrative tasks associated with student learning programmes, including preparation, marking, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date syllabuses and schemes of work.
  • Set, mark, and moderate examinations and assignments as required by examining bodies.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to the development, planning, and organisation of courses.
  • Engage in marketing and promotional activities, including liaison with employers and external bodies.
  • Undertake research and consultancy work as agreed.
  • Comply with health and safety policies and promote the college's strategic plan objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Surveying qualification and extensive experience in land surveying.
  • Experience using Total Station is essential.
  • Knowledge of land surveying techniques and geospatial information systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.
