Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Policies and Procedures:

  • Lead the development, updating, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP, UK GAAP, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring changes in accounting standards and assessing their impact on the company, recommending timely updates to policies.

Financial Transactions and Reporting:

  • Guarantee accurate recognition and disclosure of financial transactions in line with accounting standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Oversee the review of financial statements and disclosures to ensure precision and adherence to established policies and standards.

Complex Accounting Issues:

  • Dive deep into complex accounting issues and transactions, offering insightful analysis and recommendations to the finance management team.
  • Evaluate the accounting implications of proposed business transactions, acquisitions, or changes in accounting policies to ensure strategic alignment.

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Be the go-to expert on accounting policies and standards, communicating effectively with the finance team and external auditors.
  • Drive learning by providing training and education to both finance and non-finance personnel on accounting policies, standards, and related matters.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Collaborate closely with audit activities concerning accounting policies, financial reporting, and compliance to enhance transparency and accountability.
  • Innovate accounting processes, controls, and systems to boost efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Keep your finger on the pulse of accounting standards, regulatory developments, and industry trends to propel continuous improvement in accounting policies and practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

  • Significant experience with US GAAP and its application in financial reporting and transactions.
  • Background in a publicly traded company or public accounting firm is highly desirable.

Certification:

  • Qualified Accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is required.

Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to dissect complex processes and identify policy/control deficiencies.
  • Proficiency with Office applications and strong computer skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent task prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Approachability and robust interpersonal skills across all levels of staff and management.
  • Capacity to collaborate and train across multiple organizational levels.
