We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Procurement Lead to join our team on a maternity cover contract. This is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing the procurement function, ensuring the delivery of cost-effective and efficient procurement strategies aligned with business objectives. The successful candidate will be based in our East Yorkshire office (Hull, Beverley, or Scarborough), with the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Procurement Lead to join our team on a maternity cover contract. This is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing the procurement function, ensuring the delivery of cost-effective and efficient procurement strategies aligned with business objectives. The successful candidate will be based in our East Yorkshire office (Hull, Beverley, or Scarborough), with the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and processes to optimize cost savings, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing procurement team, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive supplier performance evaluations, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, fostering collaboration and trust.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and best practices, including tendering and contract management.
  • Identify and implement innovative procurement solutions and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide expert procurement advice and support to internal stakeholders on complex sourcing and contract negotiations.
  • Manage the procurement lifecycle from supplier selection to contract closure, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function to enhance performance and deliver cost savings.

Person Specification:

  • Proven track record in a senior procurement leadership role with a strong understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
  • Extensive experience in managing and developing procurement teams, including performance management and talent development.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision making.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of financial implications of procurement decisions.
  • Experience in implementing procurement systems and technologies.
  • CIPS qualified or equivalent professional qualification (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
