CNC Programmer

Our client is the largest refrigerated and temperature-controlled van specialist in the UK and are seeking an experience CNC Programmer to join their rapidly growing team. Working as part of the Design team and reporting into the Head of Technical, you will produce designs for light commercial vehicle insulation kits, and create the necessary manufacturing instructions and CNC programs to enable production.

As a CNC Programmer you will be responsible for...

CNC Programming

  • Able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and models, and translate into CNC programming requirements
  • Produce 2D CNC programs for machining insulation panels using programming software
  • Advise on tooling requirements and best practice cutting process
  • Ensure most efficient cutting programs are produced through continuous improvement.

Product Design

  • Build on existing 3D models to develop customer specific design solutions
  • Be willing to further develop 3D modelling and designing capabilities with a view to creating designs from scratch
  • Create manufacturing bills of materials to enable production of panel blanks
  • Create drawings and templates for basic sheet metal fabricated parts
  • Product assembly drawings and bills of materials for insulation kits

Quality

  • Assist the manufacturing and fitting teams in dealing with production issues
  • Work closely with the quality team to resolve non-conformities and implement preventative and corrective actions
  • Assist with scoping our damage repair work, advising customer of materials and products required to repair damaged insulation kits

As a CNC Programmer you will be...

  • Experience operating and setting large 3/5 axis CNC routers (e.g. SCM, Muratori, Technos)
  • Proficient using 2D CNC programming software (e.g. ArtCAM, Vetric V-Carve, Maestro)
  • Skill in using 2D CAD software (AutoCAD would be beneficial)
  • Competent with 3D CAD modelling software and producing basic engineering drawings (use of Autodesk Inventor would be an advantage)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work output
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • HNC in an Engineering Subject (or relevant experience) is desirable
