This international insurance law firm is a leading provider of legal and claims solutions within the insurance industry. They have decades of experience and a well-deserved reputation in the market. They are currently looking for a Casualty Claims Handler to join their Litigated Public Sector team in their Bristol office. The team work flexibly; please specify your preferences when applying. However, it is anticipated that you will live within a commutable distance from their Bristol office. This role is perfect for those keen to further their litigation and claims handling experience.
Your new role
The firm is offering an excellent opportunity where you will manage a caseload of EL/PL delegated authority, fixed fee cases on behalf of a number of insurance and public sector clients. You will be working alongside more experienced employees who will guide you in your work and assist you in your development for this role. In this position your case load is likely to include Pre-action disclosure files, Infant approval hearings, and EL/PL files handled on a delegated authority basis.
Your responsibilities for this role will include:
- Considering and responding to applications for pre-action disclosure.
- Instructing Counsel, Advocates, and Experts.
- Doing Legal research and reviewing evidence (such as medical records).
- Taking part in negotiations and drafting payments to Court.
- Drafting Cost schedules.
- Conducting investigations with Insured's and obtaining witness statements.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you will be required to have, previous defendant litigation file handling experience or previous experience in EL/PL claims which may have been claimant or defendant. You will have to be a great team worker who is happy to do what is necessary to get results and ensure top client service quality is upheld, along with a sharp eye for detail and high-level analytical skills.
It is desirable if you have some form of previous legal education, such as an LLB, LLM, CILEX, or LPC.
