The Role:

You'll be working with the Production Manager to manage the maintenance of all equipment, control systems and site facilities ensuring all production equipment runs reliably and efficiently. As well as maintenance of the physical plant and grounds. You'll work with other key stakeholders including Team Leaders, Quality Assurance (QA) to maintain a process of continuous improvement and to make recommendations on future processes and technology improvements. The Production & Maintenance Engineer will also support engineering breakdown, maintenance, changeovers, and project activities within the manufacturing environment. Whilst working in accordance with current GMP and H&S requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute the planned preventive maintenance program to ensure optimal production line efficiency.
  • Perform day-to-day in-depth fault finding, diagnosis, and breakdown repairs as necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Liaise with and manage engineering contractors on-site, ensuring accurate job specifications and quotations.
  • Create and maintain excellent working relationships within the team and across all departments and sites.
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and the Production Manager to apply lean manufacturing techniques for continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical input into key operations projects such as facilities upgrades, capital investment proposals, and new product introductions.
  • Write reports and create documents to conform to GMP regulations, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety guidelines under the guidance of the H&S officer.

Requirements

We'd love you to have:

  • HNC/HND mechanical / electrical engineering qualification
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced GMP/FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical experience is essential and electrical experience is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of preventative maintenance programmes.
  • FMCG packaging machinery or pharmaceutical experience.
  • Knowledge & experience of Lean tools & techniques (e.g. OEE, SMED, Visual stand-ards)
  • Experience in some / all of the following areas: Liquid filling, Cartoning systems, Reverse osmosis eqpt, Shrink wrap systems and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) interrogation (Omron, Siemens).
  • Ability to monitor and report results.
