Planning Engineer

As a Planning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing project schedules, ensuring that timelines and objectives are met. You will work closely with various stakeholders to develop detailed plans and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.

Main Functions:

  • Lead Development of Execution Planning Effort: Coordinate Front End Execution Planning activities, ensuring audits are scheduled and conducted, leveraging cross-functional input to identify execution issues, and defining work programs to develop mitigation plans.
  • Monitor Project Status/Issues: Support the project team during the Execute Stage and act as an execution planning Subject Matter Expert.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Execution Planning Deliverables: Develop key deliverables that support the business case during Planning for Development leading to various project gates1.
  • FEEP Coordinator Role: Design and lead FEEP workshops, coordinate development of work programs in FEEP Charters, and ensure integration of execution bases to support project deliverables1.
  • Monitor and Report FEEP Work Effort: Ensure quality of work products and report status and progress to stakeholders.
  • Execution Related Activities: Assist the project team with activities such as schedule recovery planning, incentive plans, and Cold Eye Reviews during the Execute stage.
  • Advise on Execution and Planning: Participate in project reviews and assessments, and have overall responsibilities on key work processes like EMCAPS.
  • Mentorship: Guide new engineers and experienced hires assigned to projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A BS or MS in Engineering is preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the oil and gas industry and in various project management and execution positions is required.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience in managing capital projects and experience in all phases of project execution, including international assignments.
  • Travel Flexibility: Must be willing to travel internationally as required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Must be proficient in Primavera P6. Petrochemical experience is advantageous.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and project management acumen, with a strong emphasis on execution planning and the ability to work across various stages of project development.
