Elevation Recruitment is excited to be working with a steel forgings and castings engineering company in Sheffield to recruit a Test Laboratory Machinist for a permanent position.
**Test Laboratory Machinist
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 37.5 per week, 07:45-16:00, Monday to Friday
- Salary: £34,466
- Location: Sheffield
**Key Responsibilities
:
- Perform heat treatment of test specimens in line with specific instructions.
- Machine test specimens precisely according to drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Ensure accurate identification and traceability of machined test specimens.
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace to meet high health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Follow technical drawings and worksheet instructions.
- Receive and confirm test blanks for machining.
- Operate cut-off machines and heat treatment furnaces.
- Machine tensile test pieces using manual and CNC lathes.
- Mill and broach Charpy impact test specimens.
- Monitor and verify dimensional accuracy of test specimens.
- Mark specimens for identification through paint, stamping, or other methods.
- Occasionally drive a van for material collection or delivery.
**Requirements
:
- Experience with CNC Milling.
- Strong understanding of health and safety protocols in the workplace.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work with both imperial and metric measurements.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Knowledge of metrology and basic measurement techniques.
- Desirable skills: experience with band saw operation and a valid FLT licence.
