  • Salary: £31,350 - £46,179 per year (M1 - UPS2 Fringe)
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent
  • Hours: 40 hours per week

We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join our team at a supportive educational centre catering to students aged 11 – 16 with communication and social interaction difficulties, typically associated with Autism. This role involves delivering high-quality teaching and learning within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Deliver and develop the Science curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students within a supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Utilise short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.
  • Assess, review, and report on student progress to parents, team members, and relevant bodies.
  • Develop lesson plans with a reflective approach to teaching outcomes.
  • Contribute to the review of educational plans and student reviews.
  • Provide structured lessons with maintained pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Stay informed on current issues in the field of autism to plan effective teaching and learning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
  • Ability to teach Science up to GCSE level.
  • Knowledge and experience with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profile students.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience in managing a range of behavioural approaches, including behaviours that challenge.
