Science Teacher

- Salary: £31,350 - £46,179 per year (M1 - UPS2 Fringe)
- Contract: Full-time, Permanent
- Hours: 40 hours per week
We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join our team at a supportive educational centre catering to students aged 11 – 16 with communication and social interaction difficulties, typically associated with Autism. This role involves delivering high-quality teaching and learning within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
Day to Day of the role:
- Deliver and develop the Science curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of students within a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Utilise short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.
- Assess, review, and report on student progress to parents, team members, and relevant bodies.
- Develop lesson plans with a reflective approach to teaching outcomes.
- Contribute to the review of educational plans and student reviews.
- Provide structured lessons with maintained pace, motivation, and challenge.
- Stay informed on current issues in the field of autism to plan effective teaching and learning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
- Ability to teach Science up to GCSE level.
- Knowledge and experience with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profile students.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Experience in managing a range of behavioural approaches, including behaviours that challenge.
