Here at Serco, we are seeking a Payroll Systems Solutions and Reporting Manager to join our Payroll function within our People Services team. This role is a critical role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of the payroll system within the UK, which supports approximately 28,000 employees. As our Payroll Systems Solutions and Reporting Analyst, you will ensure that all data integrations from SAP HR to our payroll system (ResourceLink) are successfully completed and aligned on a monthly basis.

We are looking for candidates who are capable of proactively identifying risks, raising issues, analysing challenges, and collaborating with the wider team and business units to develop solutions, test, and resolve problems. You'll be responsible for the delivery of all payroll system outputs and accountable for resolving issues if problems arise. You'll have the authority to make system decisions and lead the operation, working both autonomously and collaboratively as needed. Additionally, you will own the relationship with Capgemini from a payroll perspective and partner closely with wider teams like HRIS, Pensions, and Finance, as well as third parties such as Zellis.

As part of this you'll:

  • Gather and assess requirements for system changes and report requirements where necessary, whilst acting as part of the team that manages the release cycle.
  • Design and configure Payroll solutions to business expectations and requirements.
  • Manage enhancements and upgrades through to completion by analysing the impact and testing.
  • Review and maintain existing configurations to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Suggest improvements and advise on best practice, future releases and look for ways to increase efficiency.
  • Raise any risks and potential issues to Head of Payroll regarding integrations between SAP HR and the payroll system and act as a focal point for queries relating to the integration, Payroll system, data, reporting and operational use.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve all Payroll integration issues as they arise either individually, or through collaboration with others.
  • Manage projects through to completion keeping all stakeholders always informed.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Training (UAT) and parallel runs.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to the payroll team in all aspects of the processes and systems.
  • Support with building a suite of reports to improve payroll accuracy, smart working and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Generate and manage reports from ServiceNow to provide accurate insights into system performance and user requests. Identify and implement necessary improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and effectiveness.

What you'll need to do the role:

  • Ideally, you'll be a Super User or Subject Matter Expert on ResourceLink.
  • Knowledge of Zellis payroll is desirable.
  • Knowledge with SAP systems and their integration with ResourceLink is essential.
  • Experience with ServiceNow is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the business.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to act under own initiative where required.
  • Manage own time effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and agility in working style.
  • Strong strategic and analytical problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of broader HR and Payroll business domain and associated integration impacts.
  • Knowledge of Earnings and Deductions, Pay Groups, Payroll run checklists.
  • Knowledge of General Ledger, Costing Allocations and Approval processes.
