Reed Legal are currently working in partnership with a well established North West based Legal Practice who are currently looking to recruit a Head of Compliance to support their Chief Legal Officer and Director of Compliance in ensuring that the group of companies remains compliant with all regulations relevant to our services. This role is ideal for a qualified Solicitor or equivalent with experience in leading a legal Compliance team and possessing strong communication skills and relationship-building capabilities.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Support the Senior Executive Team and Senior Leadership Team on all legal and compliance matters to ensure the delivery of the company's strategy
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in relevant aspects of compliance and regulation, including SRA and ICO matters, LASPO, UK GDPR, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with the CLO, Director of Compliance, Director of M&A, and other key team members on legal and compliance aspects of M&A transactions
  • Provide cross-functional support, particularly to the Legal Transformation and Strategy Team and Operations Team, on key projects
  • Assist in leading the compliance team, managing and developing team members
  • Draft policies, procedures, and documents to support business compliance with statutory or regulatory obligations and ensure training is provided
  • Liaise with business stakeholders regarding the effects of statutory or regulatory changes and assist in implementing necessary changes
  • Manage risk relationships with professional indemnity insurers and handle formal negligence claims
  • Address day-to-day risk matters across the business, aiming to reduce risk levels and report to the Senior Leadership Team

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in successfully working and leading in a legal Compliance team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive working relationships
  • Strong understanding of customer service excellence
  • Ability to balance compliance with business drivers
  • Experience in coaching and supporting team members
  • Role model for good practice leadership
  • Technologically literate with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services
  • Strong analytical skills

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor or CILEx
