Digital Communications Manager

A large public sector organisation is currently recruiting for a Digital Communications Manager to join the team for a 6 month contract.

The role is based in London and will be hybrid with a typical week being 2 – 3 days on site with the remainder WFH.

It will be inside IR35 with a day rate ranging from £500 - £531 umbrella or PAYE £387.79 - £411.83.

The successful candidate would be required to undergo security clearance (SC) so it wont be an immediate start. Holding this form or clearance would be desirable but not essential.

You will need to be a self-starter, able to quickly grasp new projects or priorities, or refresh and refine an existing approach.

Digital Communications Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of the Digital Communications team strategy: including internal and external channels.
  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development and functionality of national digital channels (internal and external) ensuring they are current, remain up to date, and are accessible and engaging.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for content development for year-round digital activity
  • Research and review digital market and audience trends to ensure they are able to effectively engage with target audiences: Providing expert digital communication advice to seniors, the pillar and regional comms managers across the network.
  • To work closely with agencies to commission digital content creation and paid-for activity; to project manage the process to ensure the creation of relevant and effective content which can be implemented across key internal and external digital channels.
  • Line management responsibility for Digital Communication Officers and Student Interns with a proactive focus and commitment on promoting and support team and personal development.

Digital Communications Manager

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of social media management and online community management.
  • Demonstrable experience of website management, including building and editing pages, user experience optimisation and writing content to a defined style and high standard.
  • Evidence of creation and delivery of digital content, for websites and major social media channels.
  • Evidence of working with external suppliers and managing budgets, timelines and high quality delivery effectively.
  • Evidence of strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and deliver on competing demands, with evidence of times when they have flexed their approach to factor in changing internal or external circumstances and developing situational awareness.
  • At least four years' experience of working in digital communications, with a focus on tactical delivery but the ability to see the bigger picture and base decision-making on robust evidence and insight.

Skills:

  • Social media management across all major channels and experience of using management platforms.
  • Website management, using content management systems, including building and editing pages to ensure a focus on user experience and action.
  • Use of social and website analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, in-app social media analytics and professional insight tools.
  • Digital asset management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
