Job Description
Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (9-5 pm Monday-Friday)
Job Location: Hebden Bridge
As Laboratory Technician you'll be responsible for assisting the team in delivering an efficient, high quality food allergen and authenticity analysis using ELISA and DNA based methodologies (PCR). The role holder is required to perform all assigned activities in accordance with ISO17025 requirements and HSE Policies and Procedures.

Key Accountabilities;

Accurately follow laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures for the preparation and extraction of samples for analysis, performance of internal calibrations, preparation of stock chemicals/reagents and creation of swab kits.
Ensure sample and swab kit preparation is completed successfully and within the specified sample turnaround time.
Take part in internal and external proficiency tests to monitor ongoing performance.
Maintain stock levels of consumables and reagents by notifying the Laboratory Manager when new stock or equipment is required.
Perform housekeeping within the laboratory in accordance to ISO17025.
Store samples in appropriate locations/conditions to permit re-analysis.
Dispose of retained samples in accordance with the Quality Manual and under the direction of the Laboratory Manager.
To assist with sample registration using LIMS.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need previous experience working in a laboratory or high sterile environment.

In addition to the above you'll also need to demonstrate the following;

Good communication skills
Experience using Microsoft word and outlook
The following attributes would be desirable, but not essential;

Experience of working in a GLP/GMP environment.
