Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our primary school in Enfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who need extra support in their learning and development.
**Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and engage fully in classroom activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Support students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and physical disabilities.
- Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional well-being through targeted interventions.
- Help students with personal care needs where necessary, ensuring their dignity and comfort.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure that each student's unique needs are met and progress is regularly reviewed.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.
- Assist with lesson preparation and the organization of learning resources, adapting materials to meet the needs of SEND students.
- Provide feedback on student progress and any issues to teachers and the SENCO.
**Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a primary school setting.
- A strong understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude to support children with diverse needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and parents.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
**Desirable:
- Experience working 1:1 with students or delivering small group interventions.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEND.
- Training in Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies for non-verbal students.
