Your new role
As a finance officer, your duties will consist of:
- Undertake any general financial administration as instructed by the Academy Finance Officer or Academy Business Manager commensurate with the grading of this post.
- Ordering, processing and preparation of invoices for goods and services.
- Checking deliveries and chasing outstanding purchase orders with suppliers.
- Processing of the academy invoices in accordance with the academy finance policy.
- Creation of the weekly BACS payment file to be authorised by the Finance Officer.
- Uploading of the weekly BACS payment file to the online banking system for authorisation.
- Creation of CHAPS payments as and when required in support of the Finance Officer.
- Scanning invoices into the Academy finance system.
- Processing monthly recharges and journals to department budgets to include; photocopying, paper, laminating and binding.
- Advising staff on ordering purchasing of materials and services.
- Production of monthly internal budget monitoring reports.
- Advising staff on finance/budget related matters.
- Dealing with suppliers and accounts queries.
What you'll need to succeed
If you have studied AAT Level 2 this would be a bonus. Additionally, if you have knowledge of PS Financials or any other education-based finance systems, this would be desirable but not essential. Overall they are looking for someone who can come in and support the finance function. You will have good knowledge of invoicing and working on ledgers. You will have good communication skills and be open to working within an education-related environment.
Please note, this position will require us to perform a full enhanced Education DBS check.
