Black Country Women's Aid (BCWA) is an established charity working across the Black Country and wider West Midlands providing accommodation and community support services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking. Services range from advocacy, civil remedies, support in court, individual and group support and access to a range of therapeutic interventions. All services are client and needs-led.

This position is located within the Community Domestic Violence and Abuse Support Service

The BCWA Community Domestic Violence and Abuse Support Service supports victims of domestic violence and abuse in Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall through a range of contracted/commissioning arrangements. The service works in partnership with other services within BCWA and key agencies to assess risk and provide tailored support plans for service users. Our integrated approach provides effective holistic support for survivors of abuse using a trauma-informed approach.

The Role:

The Family Drug & Alcohol Domestic Abuse Specialist is a part of the Community Services Directorate within in Black Country Women's Aid and the Domestic Abuse Services team. You will have access to a team of community IDVAs (Independent Domestic Abuse Advisors) and DAA (Domestic Abuse Advocates) to liaise with.

The FDAC operates within pre-proceedings and care proceedings and is an evidence-based innovative approach to the problem of parental substance misuse (drugs and/or alcohol) which is having a negative impact on parenting capacity. The FDAC team advises the court and links parents with relevant local services. The emphasis is on working with families to provide a bespoke problem-solving approach to promote parental/family recovery and ultimately safeguarding children and young people.

As the FDAC IDVA, you will be the specialist domestic abuse advisor working in a co-located team working alongside adult workers from mental health, drug & alcohol and social workers services. You will be working closely with each service to lead on cases where domestic abuse is the primary factor and consulting on cases where domestic abuse is not the primary factor. The emphasis is on working with families to provide a bespoke problem-solving approach to promote parental/family recovery and ultimately safeguarding children and young people.

Position available: 1 full-time position (37.5 hours), based across the Black Country
Salary: £24,310.04 - £27,751.55 (dependent upon qualifications and experience)
