An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic Blackburn based finance team within a leading global retail business. This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in the smooth running of the finance department, as the business continues to grow and evolve.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts, maximising cash collection, minimising risk and exceeding KPIs

What you'll do:

As a Graduate Accounts Assistant, you will play an integral role within our finance team. Your primary responsibility will be managing customer accounts to ensure maximum cash collection and minimal risk. You will maintain accurate records on chasing and payment promises while also assisting other team members with their workload when necessary. You will drive continuous improvement in the number of days debts remain overdue and manage new customer account setups. This includes setting and controlling credit limits. You will also work collaboratively with operational teams across the Group.

  • Manage customer accounts to maximise cash collection and minimise risk
  • Maintain accurate records on chasing and payment promises
  • Assist with the workload of other team members when required
  • Drive continuous improvement in the number of days debts remain overdue
  • Manage and monitor new customer accounts set up, including setting and controlling credit limits
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and internal colleagues
  • Manage your own portfolio of accounts, ensuring outstanding debts are collected in line with company policy
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams across the Group

What you bring:

Experience using accounting software is preferred but not essential. A strong working knowledge of MS Excel is also beneficial. The successful candidate will be proactive and ambitious, with the ability to manage and prioritise their workload effectively. Excellent time management and organisational skills are key, as is the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience working within customer service preferred
  • Experience in using accounting software - preferred but not essential
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel - preferred but not essential
  • Proactive and ambitious approach towards work
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well alone or as part of a team
