SANZA Teaching Agency is delighted to recruit on behalf of a dynamic 3-form entry primary school located in Ealing (Greenford). This is a wonderful, rewarding opportunity to support a young child with special needs.

?They are looking for a teaching assistant to support a girl in year 1 who has a diagnosis of Autism (ASD).

This role would be a suited to anyone considering a career in teaching, speech and language, educational psychology, or any other relevant field.

More information..

  • The role will be working on a 1:1 basis with a girl in year 1 who has a diagnosis of Autism (ASD)
  • The child is making some progress with verbal communication, but can be fairly non-verbal at times
  • She can display challenging behaviour at times, but is not intentionally aggressive and the behaviour can be maanged with the right approach

Your role will be to facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities, promote social interaction, and support their individual learning and development.?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual support to the pupils with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Help implement and follow the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and behaviour management strategies
  • Facilitate communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to plan and adapt activities to meet the pupils' specific needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, promoting their social integration with peers

About you:

  • Relevant experience supporting children with special educational needs
  • Ideally previous experience as a teaching assistant
  • Understanding of pre-verbal communication methods and strategies
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the ability to adapt them to meet individual needs
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
