Assistant Accountant - Manufacturing Sector

Our client, a thriving manufacturing company based in the Chesham area, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a experienced finance individual to take on full transactional finance responsibilities and support the Head of Finance in driving the company's financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including processing invoices, preparing payment runs, and resolving supplier queries
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, including issuing invoices, monitoring customer accounts, and following up on overdue payments
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies
- Conduct regular reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets and inventory
- Assist with month-end close procedures, including accruals and prepayments
- Support payroll processing by providing relevant financial information
Assistant Accountant Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and VAT regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus
