I am seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper with a strong background in the construction industry to take on the responsibility of planning, executing, monitoring, and closing our company accounts and bookkeeping tasks. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, Xero and Money Soft.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage sales invoicing, purchase invoices, credit control, expenses, processing subcontractor timesheets and payments.
  • Conduct weekly bank reconciliations, VAT and CIS returns.
  • Assist with management accounts, including accruals and journals.
  • Provide daily/weekly reports to the Operations Director on accounts progress.
  • Identify and mitigate financial losses and handle all HMRC matters in the UK.
  • Engage in weekly forecasting, budgeting, and overall cost control planning.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, Quantity Surveyor, Office Manager, and Project Manager to ensure project success.
  • Keep all paperwork up to date and complete, preparing status/progress reports.
  • Arrange and lead weekly accounts meetings, amending and updating the risk log as necessary.
  • Report directly to the Operations Director on key milestones and other responsibilities as required.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve efficiency and maintain a productive working environment.
  • Manage Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Banking, petty cash, credit cards, and expenses.
  • Assist with quarterly VAT returns and monthly CIS returns.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and quarterly reports.
  • Forecast and budget cash flow and handle all accounts/finance administrative tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Construction Industry experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with various levels within the business.
  • Strong organisational skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of CIS and VAT.
  • Experience with QuickBooks/Xero Online and Money Soft.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
