Role Overview

Myn is looking to recruit a PDP Lawyer to provide expert legal advice and representation. In this role, you'll support our client in ensuring they meet all legal requirements and standards, delivering top-quality services. This is a dynamic position requiring flexibility across legal areas, high standards of practice, and effective client support.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory: Deliver timely and effective legal advice to support the council's functions.

Leadership Support: Provide guidance and direction within the legal team, supporting the management of staff and assisting the Principal Lawyer.

Case Management: Handle a complex caseload with minimal supervision, offering innovative legal solutions.

Advocacy & Representation: Represent the council in proceedings as needed, with flexibility for out-of-hours and offsite meetings.

Budget Management: Contribute to managing the legal expenses budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

Training & Compliance: Support ongoing staff training on emerging legal issues and council compliance standards.

Skills and Experience

Qualification: Qualified solicitor, barrister, or Fellow of CILEX eligible to practice in England and Wales with a valid practising certificate.

Legal Knowledge: Strong expertise across business planning, financial management, and council operations.

Leadership: Proven ability to manage and develop teams, coaching and motivating staff for success.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in negotiations and influencing.

Problem Solving: Skilled in developing innovative solutions for complex issues, with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Experience: Substantial legal experience, particularly in local government or a similar public sector environment.

Technical Skills: Proficient with computerised business systems, supporting a paper-light working environment.
