Business Development Specialist

Gleeson are delighted to be working with a large, international business in their search for a Business Development Specialist to join their team - please note, this is a junior level role, perfect someone who is looking to start their career within sales.

Our client is a software acquisition business who own over 170 business across 27 countries. They have been acquiring businesses for over 30 years.

You will be responsible for generating new relationships with software businesses who could potentially be looking to sell in the near future. The sales process is more tailored to someone who is keen to nurture and grow relationships as opposed to more transactional sales.

If you're a graduate looking for a business development or account management role, or maybe you have a little bit of sales experience, wanting to move into a more corporate environment with a business who will invest in your development and give you progression, this is the perfect role for you.

"What will I be doing day-to-day?"

  • Grow our client's merger and acquisition prospect database in the United Kingdom & Ireland.
  • Initiate outbound prospecting (phone and video) calls, email, and social media communication to identify and connect with target companies.
  • Visit trade shows and industry events in order to initiate contacts with prospective targets.
  • Use Marketing and CRM data to build and maintain existing relationships with key stakeholders and maintain them.
  • Follow up on outbound and inbound prospect activities in a timely manner.
  • Conduct first-line interactions with the company (by telephone/video call and face-to-face) to qualify potential targets.
  • Document meetings/ interactions in the form of notes and interactions and administer efforts in Salesforce (CRM system).

"What experience/character would I need to be considered for the role?"

  • A bachelor's or Master's degree in business administration, economics/accounting, sales, commercial sciences, or marketing management is preferable (but not mandatory).
  • Eagerness to learn and want to develop.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to understand financial concepts.
  • Willing to travel to the UK as the role progresses.

This role has a starting salary of £25k which will increase every 6 months until you've served 2 years with the business (you will then earn a basic salary of £30k). There is bonus included in this role with every acquisition you make.

You will need to be in the office 2-3 days per week. Our client has state of the art offices in central Birmingham.
