Research and Development Associate

Our client is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join their team as a Research Associate. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that generates high-quality biological data to support herbicide research projects.

This is initially a year contract which will be potentially extended.

As a Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in the Trialling Operations team within Technical Support. Your main responsibility will be to spray and maintain herbicide bioassays in the glasshouse using established and novel weed screening methods. By doing so, you will ensure the delivery of timely and accurate biology data, enabling informed project decisions.

  • Independently and collaboratively carry out experimental work using established and novel screening methods
  • Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions throughout the testing process
  • Execute tasks with precision, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Adhere to the organisation's Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy
  • Thrive in a high-throughput team environment
  • Identify any issues or non-conformities and report them promptly
  • Keep accurate records and databases up to date
  • Contribute to the training of daily tasks
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and consistently perform your role
  • Show initiative in problem-solving and contribute to the improvement of the screening platform

To thrive in this role, our client is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:

  • A BSc degree or A levels with experience in a related field (preferred)
  • General knowledge of plant biology, ideally including weed control and agronomy
  • Entry-level familiarity with laboratory techniques
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programmes
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility and agility in learning new tasks
  • Self-motivated, self-managing, and efficient in time management
