Property Litigation Solicitor (NQ+)

Monmouth

A long established, progressive law firm based in the Southeast of Wales is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join their expanding practice. They are committed to providing a professional and client focused service and the successful candidate will share their values.

The Role

In this role, you will build and manage your own caseload of property litigation matters, working closely with our Dispute Resolution Solicitor and supporting other departmental tasks as required. Your primary focus will be on property litigation, including landlord and tenant disputes, easement and covenant issues, TOLATA and ownership conflicts, as well as applications and notices under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

Responsibilities:

Manage property litigation cases, including

  • Boundary disputes, TOLATA claims, and land ownership issues
  • Residential and commercial landlord-tenant disputes, including possession claims
  • Easement disputes (rights of way, light, usage)
  • Dilapidation disputes and leasehold extensions under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954

Provide legal support to other departments (Commercial Property, Employment, Debt Recovery, Probate)

  • Handle client instructions, maintain detailed file notes, and draft legal documents (pleadings, statements)
  • Prepare cost estimates and issue Client Care Letters, with regular client updates on progress and costs
  • Ensure compliance with Office Manual procedures and Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Prepare and review court bundles; perform court advocacy when needed
  • Negotiate settlements and draft agreements

Marketing and Business Development

  • Attend networking events and develop work sources
  • Participate in marketing strategies and initiatives
  • Enhance social media presence
  • Collaborate across departments to raise profile and identify cross-selling opportunities

You

  • Qualified lawyer or Chartered Legal Executive with a background in civil litigation and/or property law
  • Keen interest in specialising in litigation
  • Proficient in IT and quick to adapt to new systems and processes
  • Skilled in using social media and networking to support business development
  • Confident networker, enthusiastic about using these abilities
