We are leading outdoor Company who loves creating high quality products. We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Assistant within our busy Design Team, based at our Head Offices in Milton Keynes.

Summary of role:

The Design Assistant role supports the Design Team in creating, developing and executing premium quality products on time, ensuring maximised profit margins, in line with agreed strategy for each product segment. The role supports the Design Team during the design process, and in delivering compelling consumer led products and ranges. Working to exceed the quality expectations of Rohan customer is the key goal of your role. This role would suit a graduate looking to start their Design career.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Educated to degree level or similar in Apparel or Product Design.
  • Highly competent with Adobe Creative Suite and skilled with Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
  • Understand and knowledge of Excel a benefit.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical apparel or sportswear preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and be curious about our customers, their activities, and our product use.
  • Passionate about all aspects of design, creativity and innovation.
  • Self-motivated and wanting to learn and develop skills and knowledge.
  • Commercial awareness of designs and their role in the range and cost implications.
  • Ability and willingness to work on multi-product categories from technical waterproofs and jackets, fleece, mid-layer, shirts, trousers and accessories.
  • Ability to problem solve and think proactively if issues or challenges arise.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent skills for verbal, written or visual context and illustration.
  • Possess a collaborative and supportive mindset.
  • Interest in the outdoors and travel through end user participation is a benefit.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within UK, Europe and Asia if required.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Assist the Design Team in the design process from concept to completion.
  • Support with research and preparation the seasonal creative and colour direction.
  • Assist in the preparation of colour palettes and visual mood boards.
  • Provide accurate and detailed CAD drawings and specifications so prototypes and BOMs can be created.
  • Maintain tech packs ensuring they are updated with accurate information.
  • Participate and assist with fit meetings and design reviews.
  • Develop product awareness to increase knowledge, and follow new developments and innovation within the industry.
  • Research relevant marketplaces and our competitors for inspiration and opportunities.
  • Present research results to the Design and Product teams.
  • Support the Design team with administrative tasks including preparation for product presentations, meetings, and range reviews
  • Ensure assigned work is delivered according to the seasonal calendar, understanding risks, and impact of the critical path.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned by Design Manager.

The team travels together and individually, as required, to our suppliers in the Far East. We also travel to trade shows across Europe. This role does require some travel each year. Please do not apply if you are unable to travel abroad.
