SEN Teaching Assistants

We are urgently looking for Primary SEN Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant academy that boasts an exciting curriculum and lovely facilities that Ofsted has even awarded as a "Good school with excellent features". You will be supporting a Reception class with another TA and Teacher to provide support.

The Academy champions its great academic standards, extra curricular activities, creativity and links within the local community. The school also advocates the family atmosphere of which it prides itself on whether that comes to its pupils or the dedicated staff that help push forward its achievements in order to help all pupils reach their full potential. With spacious classrooms and colourful artwork flooding the hallway walls created by the pupils, the school prides its pupils creativity and wants them to feel like whatever they are doing matters and should be shown as something to be proud of.

You will be providing 1:1 support, your role will be to work with a named child or children dependent on the requirements of the teacher or class, or SENCo, to support subjects and learning across the whole curriculum. Also the role will encompass the task of helping to support and motivate the child, clarifying instructions, encouraging independent learning and behaviour and enabling learning targets and outcomes to be achieved.

The role is Monday - Friday, 8:30-3:30pm, paying £13 -£13.50 per hour,

This is a temporary position initially from September - December 2024 with potential to extend until July 2024.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with their learning in 1:1, small groups and the whole class.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher regarding targets and expectations
  • Liaise with other professionals within the School eg. SENCO, Teachers, TAs, specialist support staff.
  • Support the monitoring and tracking of all pupils in line with the assessment procedures in school.
  • Helping support the class teacher with IEP's
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of the specific academic and physical emotional/behavioural/medical needs of the child and respond to them effectively
  • To assist the class teacher/SENCo with the planning, development and delivery of suitable programmes of work for the pupil
  • To support class teachers to design, create and produce learning activities, materials and resources to support aspects of the curriculum or particular learning outcomes, and to assist and support the child in using them
  • To help, support and motivate the child/children, clarifying instructions, encouraging independent learning

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge of development matters
  • Must be an outgoing individual with an ability to engage with pupils to have FUN while learning
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and competently within a team
  • Must be able to engage learners through play
  • Must have childcare Level 2 or above.
  • Knowledge of the new KS1 and Ks2 curriculum
  • An understanding of SEN or learning needs.

Desirable Requirements:

  • An understanding of SEN or learning needs.

  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
