Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be partnering with a youth charity to recruit a dynamic Relationships Manager.

The Relationships Manager will play a crucial role in promoting strong, effective partnerships to tackle the complex barriers young people face in accessing employment. This position involves supporting local partnerships in developing systemic solutions that can drive real change in youth employment.

Job Title: Relationships Manager
Term: Fixed term until January 2026, with the possibility of extension
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week (flexible working and alternative patterns considered, compressed hours)
Salary: £35,775 - £41,775
Reporting to: Head of Programmes
Location: Based at one of our hubs in London, Birmingham, or Leeds, with a hybrid working model (two days in the office and three days from home). Some travel to other hubs and locations, including occasional overnight stays, is required.

Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Management:

  • Build and manage relationships with core partners in each local partnership.
  • Engage with new allies and assess the state of local collaborations.
  • Collaborate with other funders interested in overlapping areas.
  • Accompaniment:
  • Support partnerships through the process, monitoring progress and challenges.
  • Maintain a 'whole system' perspective for local partnerships.
  • Assure the continued involvement and voice of young people in design and decision-making.

Insight and Oversight:

  • Identify strategic insights and learning from local partnerships.
  • Provide assurance of local work progress to the Programmes and Grants team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to build a shared assessment of local analysis and potential for systemic change.

Grant Management:

  • Prepare Grant Agreements and ensure documentation is up to date.
  • Conduct monitoring and due diligence activities.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-team assessments and prepare recommendations for further investment.

Person Specification:

  • Understanding of youth employment, education, and systemic barriers.
  • Experience in establishing and managing successful partnerships in the public or not-for-profit sectors.
  • Track record of building productive relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing budgets, projects, or grants.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships, apply strategic thinking, and encourage new ways of working.
