What the company are seeking:

They are looking for a Principal Ecologist to join their friendly team and bring their expertise forward. This pivotal role will require you to work to extend phase 1 habitat/UK Habitat Classification System and protected species surveys; you will collaborate with the landscape team to formulate mitigation proposals and habitat creation schemes to support biodiversity net gain requirements.

You will supervise projects under EPS licences for bats and great crested newts. The company provides inputs in BREEAM Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, and EIAs, and its outputs are technical reports for planning submissions. The right candidate should have experience with survey licences for bats and great crested newts, including knowledge of mitigation and previous successful submissions of development licences for these species.

What makes you a successful candidate for the Principal Ecologist?

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in ecology or a related subject.
  • Working towards Associate or FULL member of the CIEEM.
  • Working towards or holding a Bat Survey Licence (Class 2)
  • Understand Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
  • Great working knowledge of planning process, habitat and protective species surveying and wildlife legislation.
  • Experience working with QGIS mapping and bat call analysis software.
