Here in Consett, we have a team of around 280 colleagues. We produce a range of chilled ready meals for some of the UK's leading retailers, including Co-op, Sainsbury's and Weight Watchers.
Night shift - £11.96 per hour
What you'll be doing
In this role as a Skilled Operator, there are two different vacancies available at our site in Consett. One vacancy is as a Heatsealer and the other is a Line Server. Duties of these roles include:
Heatsealer
- Responsible for replacing sealing film when required
- Setting up the correct sealing head for the selected meal according to the days scheduled plan
- Completing required checks and monitoring of the heat sealer machine throughout the shift on multiple lines
- Ensuring sealing integrity is to customer specification throughout the production run
- Cleaning the heat sealer machine at the end of each run
Line Server
- Prepare ingredients as instructed by the Senior Operator
- Mixing parts of meals such as rice mixes in tumblers, ensuring that machines used is cleaned accordingly after each use.
- Assist with setting up the production lines
- Collecting the correct ingredients and equipment from chilled and packaging stores to multiple lines timely and efficiently
- Making sure that the correct Utensils are being used for Meat/veg/allergen meals, to prevent cross-contamination
What we're looking for
Full training will be provided if successful in this role but are looking for the following knowledge and experience:
- Experience working within a food manufacturer preferred
- Good Literacy and Numeracy skills * Problem solving skills
- Good communicator and ability to work in a team
- Allergen awareness
- L2 Food Safety is preferred but not essential
