Job Opportunity: Commissioning Technician

Project Description:

Join one of the most critical construction projects at the Sellafield Site-the Box Encapsulation Plant project. This vital plant will play a key role in Sellafield's 100-year clean-up programme by encasing nuclear waste in concrete, ensuring safe and modern storage. Designed to handle waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, it will also process certain wastes from three other legacy waste stores: the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage Pond, and the Pile Fuel Cladding Silo. This project, managed by the BEP Joint Venture, aims to meet the stringent requirements of the contract, ensuring the safe and efficient conditioning of various wastes in line with the needs of the Employer and stakeholders.

Role Overview:

As a Commissioning Technician, you will be integral to the success of this project, reporting to the Commissioning Engineer. Your role will encompass ensuring safety as a top priority, conducting testing activities throughout all stages of commissioning, and contributing to the production and implementation of test documentation. You will play a vital part in witnessing testing activities, managing Temporary Commissioning Aids, and recording supporting data according to test requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritising safety and promoting a proactive approach to nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety.
  • Conducting comprehensive testing activities during all commissioning stages.
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of test documentation.
  • Managing FOBs and TQs.
  • Performing and witnessing testing activities alongside third parties.
  • Applying and removing Temporary Commissioning Aids.
  • Recording and managing supporting data per test requirements.
  • Utilising completions management systems for commissioning activities.
  • Performing commissioning tasks according to the project schedule.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary design reviews and collaborating with the engineering team.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Time served or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline such as piping or electrical.
  • Preferred qualifications include ONC or equivalent, or a commitment to achieving this qualification.
  • Demonstrated project commissioning experience.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS, P4 pass, and meet any other client security requirements is essential.

Rates:

  • PAYE: £31.36 per hour
  • Umbrella: £41.23 per hour
