About the role

Base Location: Aberdeen

Salary: £39,415 - £45,136 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The duties and responsibilities of the Craft Technician - Plant & Cable are:

  • Required to inspect, operate and maintain the transmission network across Scotland, Maintenance Technicians provide the front-line technical expertise and day to day work coordination in substation plant and cable maintenance teams.
  • Working closely with teams of substation fitters, the Technician will build strong working relationships to assist Operations and Maintenance management to coordinate and deliver all aspects of inspection, repairs and maintenance activities within the specific discipline.
  • Responsible for hands-on management of a wide range of high value, network critical electrical assets.
  • Required to interpret and analyse various forms of inspection data from both internal and external sources, taking ownership and management for remediation, rectification and/or replacement of key components to ensure the ongoing safe and efficient operation of the Transmission network.
  • Responsible for accurate reporting of work done and identification and escalation of developing and emergent trends in asset defects and failures.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Ability to independently supervise non-routine and complex tasks.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management systems.
  • Commenced/working through SVQ / NVQ in STEM discipline or equivalent qualification, gained equivalent experience.
