Pertemps are currently recruiting for a
Support Worker
to join a dedicated and compassionate team providing holistic, person-centred support to individuals who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness – including veterans and those with complex needs.
This is a
temporary position running until March 2026
, with an immediate start available for the right candidate.
The Role
As a Support Worker, you'll work with a small caseload of 5–8 customers, allowing you to provide tailored, high-quality support. The focus will be on empowering individuals to gain independence, achieve their personal goals, and maintain sustainable accommodation.
You will:
- Provide support around areas such as mental health, substance misuse, housing, benefits, and education or employment opportunities.
- Develop, review, and update individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, private landlords, and support services.
- Promote independence, build trusting relationships, and help individuals develop the skills to manage on their own.
- Work flexibly across different locations and occasionally outside standard office hours to meet client needs.
About You
We are looking for someone with a
positive, solution-focused approach
who is passionate about helping others. While previous experience in a similar role is desirable, a strong motivation to support vulnerable individuals is essential.
You will have:
- Experience supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviours.
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- A good understanding of safeguarding, housing support, and local support services.
Desirable (D):
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field
- Knowledge of housing-related support and homelessness issues
- Experience working with vulnerable groups in 1:1 or group settings
- Understanding of training, employment, and educational pathways
- Up-to-date safeguarding training
