Part time Health & Safety Manager

A leading law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part Time Health and Safety Manager to join their team. This role is crucial in maintaining the highest standards of health and safety across our organisation. This role is part time working 21 hours per week £37k pro rata.

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for all aspects of health and safety within our firm. This role involves developing, maintaining, monitoring, and coordinating health and safety policies, procedures, and training across all divisions.

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Policy Development and Implementation by collaborating with External Health and Safety Consultants and local teams to review and implement health and safety policies. You will ensure these align with local regulations and industry best practices and communicate them effectively to all personnel.
  • Carry out site Inspections and Risk Assessments. This will involve conducting regular site reviews to identify potential hazards. You will be performing thorough risk assessments and work with local teams to address and mitigate risks promptly.
  • Organising and facilitating comprehensive safety training programs for employees, consultants, and other stakeholders. This includes coordinating with third-party online training providers for courses such as COSHH, CDM, and Risk Assessments. There will be a need to develop and lead in-house safety-related training modules on topics like personal safety and manual handling.
  • Providing a training and development plan for the supporting health and safety officer within the team.
  • Stay abreast of all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations to ensure our firm's full compliance.
  • Supporting local teams in incident, accident, and near-miss reporting. The role will involve conduct thorough investigations, document findings clearly, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures
  • Managing office staff workstation (DSE) assessments. Updating and escalating high-risk assessments for employees and contractors, coordinating with external suppliers for virtual assessments and follow-up actions.
  • Working closely with senior managers and other stakeholders to address safety concerns.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all safety activities, including incidents, training records, and safety inspections.
  • Reporting and Compliance and auditing. Auditing: Participate in internal and external audits to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and recommend corrective actions as needed.

Applicants will have a relevant degree or professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and a NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a professional services or legal environment is required.
