HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION

WEMBLEY

SALARY UP TO £55,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

Our client is a rapidly expanding civil engineering company that now requires a Health & Safety Manager to join their busy team based at their Head Office in Wembley.

A Health & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that an organisation and its employees adhere to safety standards. Their duties include creating and implementing organisational safety guidelines, promoting a culture of safety in the workplace, and performing regular site inspections to check compliance.

Safety Manager duties & responsibilities:

Health & Safety Managers design and implement safety procedures and regulations to minimise the risk of accidents or injuries or accidents in the workplace. Other duties and responsibilities of a Health & Safety Manager include:

  • Carrying out safety risks assessments prior to starting a new project.
  • Reviewing all work procedures and ensuring they meet industry safety standards.
  • Preparing and filing reports for accidents and other safety breaches.
  • Staying up to date with health, safety, and environment regulations.
  • Ensuring safe installation of equipment and overseeing external contractors.
  • Conducting in-house training sessions on health and safety awareness.

The responsibilities include:

  • Manage and ensure that the highest standards of Health and Safety are always maintained.
  • Creation, implementation, reviewing and management of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Creation and reviewing of risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments.
  • Pre-construction / Construction Phase Plan and H&S file creation and management.
  • Undertake site audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and reporting on the findings.
  • Assessing and managing safety hazards, including completion of H&S paperwork.
  • Ensuring appropriate site rules and welfare facilities are in place.
  • Carrying out regular health and safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance on all sites.
  • CDM advice and guidance.
  • Conduct training, toolbox talks, inductions and investigate incidents, where required.
  • Develop and implement best practice to improve performance.
  • Attending site and management meetings.
  • Hold, chair, and minute meetings.
  • Produce and present presentations.
  • Supervise the implementation of work safety plans, method statements, risk assessments and other works procedures ensuring they comply with the relevant documentation. Monitor and report on their effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with external and internal departments to ensure smooth running of health and safety on site, taking appropriate action to address issues or concerns in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Currently UK based.
  • Proven 5 years' previous experience within a UK construction H&S role.
  • Nebosh Certificate in General Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation, including CDM.
  • Stable employment history.
  • CSCS (required).
  • Full, UK driving licence.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience in Microsoft Office / 365, including Word, Excel,
  • Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of CDM regulations and site H&S.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and looking to progress in your career.
  • Able to work under pressure to maintain deadlines.
  • Articulate in written and oral English communication.
  • Personally presentable always.
