We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join one of our Lambeth Primary Schools for the upcoming academic year starting in September 2024. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support to a child with Autism and behavioural challenges, helping them to access the curriculum and engage positively in school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a child with Autism and behavioural difficulties, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and other professionals to ensure the child's needs are met.
  • Use a range of strategies to support the child's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, adapting support as necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the child in developing independence and self-regulation skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism and behavioural challenges, preferably in a school setting.
  • Understanding of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and strategies to support children with Autism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Training in Autism-specific strategies (e.g., TEACCH, PECS, ABA) or behaviour management techniques.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
