About the role

Hargreaves Lansdown (HL) are currently looking for a Senior Manager Control Testing to join the team. The Control Testing team provide first line risk assurance over Operations ensuring key controls are regularly tested to confirm they are designed and operate effectively to manage good client outcomes. The Senior Manager has overall responsibility for the operation and management of the Control Testing team as well as delivery of a risk-based control testing plan in line with HL control standards.

What you'll be doing

You'll be reporting to the Head of Client QA and Control Testing, and will be responsible for managing the team of Control Testers/Specialists providing independent assurance of key control effectiveness across Operations. You will be joining us at an exciting time and will be pivotal in the set up of a new team.

The role's responsibilities include:

  • Applying control testing standards in line with HL's risk management framework and managing the maintenance of the Control Testing team's documentation, frameworks and standards
  • Monitoring and managing the completion of the monthly control test plan balancing resource, capacity and risk across control, and targeted & thematic risk-based testing
  • Coordinating stakeholder engagement and data collection for planning purposes whilst supporting the team to build the right relationships with the right people in the right way
  • Evaluating performance in the team through checking efficiency and quality and continually striving to improve control testing processes and leveraging the use of technology
  • Proactively collaborating with client facing and operational teams using root cause analysis from control testing to inform the improvement of controls and manage risk
  • Building and managing stakeholder relationships through feedback meetings

Owning and supporting projects to improve the overall delivery and risk management control testing methodology

  • Drives local change and supports wide change, taking responsibility for solution design, making recommendations and business cases
  • Specific responsibility for QA/Controls RCSA

About you

  • Proven leadership and line management experience
  • 1st line risk and control testing experience in a regulated financial services firm
  • Ability to lead the delivery of control testing projects
  • Able to make decisions effectively considering control, client and risk impacts
  • Ability to plan, manage and adapt to varying workloads for self and team
  • Analytical and an ability to identify trends and assess risk/client impact
  • Strong interpersonal skills being able to engage positively with HL colleagues at all levels confidently influencing and driving change & improvements in control
  • Sound regulatory knowledge and understanding of HL's regulatory environment in particular FCA rules, GDPR & DPA

Interview process

This will be a two-stage interview process, including competency-based questions and a presentation.

Working Schedule

The role is based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We have returned to the office, however for this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern.
