Long-Term Teachers supports a fantastic specialist education provision in Paignton that supports children aged 11-16 who have faced challenges in mainstream education. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) related to social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We are actively seeking Learning Support Assistants to join this exceptional team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom support: Provide general classroom support, including one-to-one assistance and small group interventions as needed.
- Lesson preparation: Assist the teacher with lesson planning, resource gathering and activity set up.
- Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students, promoting a secure and supportive environment.
- Behaviour management: Effectively manage student behaviour and address the individual needs in accordance with with their EHCP's
- Curriculum access: Support students in accessing the curriculum, helping them to overcome barriers to learning
About You:
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in the UK, whether in early years, primary or secondary education.
- SEN knowledge: A strong understanding of special educational needs and strategies to support young people
- Personal qualities: Resilient, adaptable, hardworking and possess a good sense of humour.
- Professional growth: A willingness to develop your knowledge and skills further.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing plans at short notice
This role is perfect for university students, experienced TA's looking for a new challenge or anyone wanting to work around their current schedule. You will be working term time only, Monday - Friday, typically between the hours of 9am - 3pm (finishing at 2:30pm on Fridays). If you would like to discuss this role further, please get in touch!
