Credit Controller

We are currently recruiting for a Credit Controller with a preferred background in Credit Control/Administration. You will play a crucial role in helping manage the credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts and maintaining strong relationships with our clients and stakeholders.

Your role will demand a display of diplomacy and resilience, coupled with a proactive approach to credit management. The position is based at our Canterbury office, offering the added flexibility of hybrid working (2 days work from home and 3 days in the office).

About the role

As a Credit Controller, your primary objective is to minimise outstanding debt to ensure the best possible cash flow for the firm. You will be responsible for the management of your own portfolio of clients and debt, playing a vital role within the Credit Control team and contributing significantly to the broader Finance department.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and collection of all outstanding debts in accordance with the firms policy.
  • Liaison with Client Care Teams to resolve outstanding queries in a timely manner.
  • To have regular meetings with Partners and Managers via teams and office visits when required. (Quarterly at a minimum).
  • Daily cash receipt preparation and posting.
  • Processing of cheque and card payments.
  • Production and follow up of debt reminder letters (automated system).
  • Taking and making calls to clients.

What we're looking for:

  • Ideally from a Credit Control / Administration industry background.
  • Ideally you will have an understanding of sales ledger and relevant nominal ledger book-keeping.
  • Formal credit control training or recognised qualification would be an advantage but not essential. Full training will be given.
  • Excellent telephone manner. Must be prepared to take and make calls to clients which may sometimes include difficult conversations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritise your own workload.
  • Ability to demonstrate resilience in a dynamic environment.
