Product Development Leader for Reserving Software

As a member of the strategic leadership team of our market leading reserving and financial reporting software suite, ResQ, you will deliver cutting-edge product functionality by identifying and refining technical approaches, and drafting specification to guide the engineering teams. Your work will create software solutions aligned with the WTW vision of reserving which will transform the industry and reserving's role within it.

WTW has a brand-new opportunity for someone with a background in Property & Casualty actuarial reserving to join the product development team for our market leading reserving and financial reporting software suite, ResQ.

The successful candidate will have the desire to apply their reserving expertise into software development, as they partner with senior leadership to direct development according to WTW's long-term vision for the P&C reserving suite of solutions.

Background

WTW is a preeminent developer and provider of risk analytics and financial modelling software, with over 1,000 insurance clients worldwide.

ResQ is our market leading software suite providing P&C reserving and financial reporting capabilities. Our capabilities are developing rapidly as we continually invest in our software and transform reserving best practices.

The Role:

  • A Director-level role within the strategic leadership team for ResQ. The successful candidate will report into the Global Proposition Leader (GPL) for Reserving, working with a wide range of software development experts to define new product capabilities in line with wider business strategy. This role contributes subject matter expertise in reserving to the broader team.
  • Identify and refine technical approaches and concepts supporting product vision, in-line with wider product strategies defined by the GPL, as well as the wider Technology leadership. This may include outlines of proof of concepts, leading client discussions, providing practical user feedback to the development team and detailed market research.
  • Responsible for creation of written requirements, to ensure the engineering teams have an appreciation of the business context for their work.
  • Collaborate with our senior reserving consulting team globally to understand local market needs and priorities.
  • Collaborate and share product vision with other product leaders and explore opportunities for synergies and common approaches.
  • People/line management opportunities available within the role, with specifics depending on the successful candidate's priorities and preferred working-style.

The Requirements:

The essential skills/experience for this position are:

  • Practical actuarial experience in P&C reserving (qualification not required).
  • Software development or software product management experience.
  • A learning-oriented mindset, with enthusiasm to learn (or prior experience with) Agile software development for commercial applications.
  • Sharp analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and high quality standards combined with pragmatism and practicality.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to balance multiple priorities and to provide clear status updates.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: enabling effective communication with product and development teams, clients/prospects, and internal user community.
  • Creative and strategic thinker willing and able to contribute to development of the overall product vision.
  • A strong history of delivering

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are:

  • Experienced ResQ user.
  • Knowledge of the global insurance industry practices in key markets.
