Tenancy Management Officer
- Hourly Rate: £21.67 PAYE / £26.98 LTD UMB

We are seeking an experienced Tenancy Management Officer to join a local authority team based in Oxford City. The successful candidate will be responsible for the tenancy and void management of a defined number of properties, acting as the first point of contact for members, tenants, and other Council services. This role requires a high level of customer service and a thorough understanding of landlord and tenant legislation.
Day to Day of the role:
- Manage a portfolio of residential properties, ensuring high-quality customer care and service delivery.
- Provide advice on housing-related topics and coordinate with external support providers.
- Prepare case files for legal proceedings, act as the Council's witness in court, and coordinate evictions when necessary.
- Handle tenancy succession, assignment, mutual exchange, and reallocation, enforcing tenancy conditions as required.
- Maximise rental income and reduce void costs through efficient termination and re-letting activities.
- Facilitate tenant mobility, from application to sign-up, including property viewings and ensuring new tenants understand their tenancy agreement.
- Identify suitable temporary and permanent decant properties, coordinating with teams to assist tenants with relocation.
- Manage housing issues for customers in stressful situations, liaising with external support and medical agencies as necessary.
- Coordinate activities involving Council teams and external agencies to resolve neighbourhood issues and provide excellent customer service.
- Manage the Estate Improvement budget, engaging with stakeholders on projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of current landlord and tenant legislation, guidance, best practice, and case law.
- Experience in tenancy and void management within a local authority or similar setting.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Proficiency in performance management reporting and general administration.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and external agencies.
- Competence in electronic record-keeping and documentation.
