We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Tutor to join this fantastic team within a Secondary setting. The successful candidate will support the highest standards of behaviour amongst students, assist vulnerable and disengaged students, and supervise alternative provision spaces. This role is crucial in enabling students to access and engage with the curriculum and make progress.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Register students and liaise with the attendance team and parents regarding lateness or absence.
  • Oversee alternative provision spaces, ensuring clear and consistent expectations of behaviour.
  • Attend weekly meetings to review student progress.
  • Collaborate with Pastoral teams, SENDCO, and Assistant Headteachers to provide necessary support for students.
  • Work with school staff to ensure students have appropriate work to support their learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of interventions and support.
  • Stay informed on inclusive education and behaviour management best practices, engaging in professional development.
  • Support parents' evenings, celebration events, and other whole school events.
  • Track and monitor student progress, reporting to parents regularly.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Equivalent of GCSE A-C in English and Maths.
  • Experience working in an educational environment with vulnerable and/or disengaged students.
  • Knowledge of interventions and the ability to apply these appropriately.
  • Practical experience with vulnerable and disaffected students to re-engage them with learning.
  • Ability to use data effectively for setting targets, reviewing progress, and reporting outcomes.
  • Knowledge of alternative learning provision operations and supervision skills.

  • Effective interpersonal skills adaptable to different audiences, with the ability to manage difficult conversations and potential conflict.
  • Skilled in de-escalation and managing challenging situations.
  • Autonomous work ethic with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
