Job Description:
My client is looking for an experienced Bridging Underwriter to join their expanding team based in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial underwriting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Building solid working relationships with brokers, solicitors, and valuers is a key aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting new loan applications from initial review to completion, following the company's lending policies
- Maintaining regular communication with brokers, solicitors, and valuers to ensure excellent service levels
- Continuously assessing risks throughout the lifecycle of each case
- Preparing and presenting credit papers to the credit committee, clearly articulating commercial risks and borrower creditworthiness
- Managing funding requests for cases nearing completion
- Keeping internal teams and stakeholders informed on case progress and pipeline status
- Reviewing and improving policies and processes to maintain the highest standards
- Meeting personal and team-based KPIs
- Prioritising workflow to meet deadlines effectively
Skills and Experience:
- At least 2 years' experience in bridging or specialist finance underwriting
- CeMAP qualification preferred but not required
- Strong ability to interpret and understand trading company accounts
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the finance industry
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment
