IT Helpdesk Engineer Apprentice

Overview:

After another successful year of growth, we're looking to expand our team and recruit a First Line Support Engineer.

This is an ideal opportunity to earn several industry recognised qualifications and kick start your career in IT.

The role:

  • The apprenticeship will last 12 – 18 months and would be a combination of 20% classroom and 80% on the job training from our office in Team Valley, Gateshead.
  • You will be paid £14,000 per year whilst in your apprenticeship; if you successfully complete your apprenticeship you will be offered a competitive salary as a First Level Engineer.

Duties:

You will be working alongside our first and second line engineers to provide:

  • Businesses with a centralised IT department
  • Support for Microsoft Windows desktops and servers
  • Support for desktop and server software (such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365/exchange), network infrastructure, desktop and server repairs and installations.

  • Very good communication skills, methodical and logical approach to tasks
  • Must enjoy problem solving
  • A natural aptitude for understanding technical information
  • A genuine interest in IT and technology
  • A positive, ‘can do' attitude
  • Career focused and self-motivated

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
