Quarry Operative (Floating)
Hourly Rate - £14.75 per hour (plus benefits)
Hours - Average weekly hours of 47.75 hours per week, between the hours of 6.00am to 5pm. You will be required to work 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (6 hour shift) on a rota basis.

As a Quarry Operative, you will operate mobile and fixed plant at various locations within the operating area of Darrington Quarries Ltd, also providing cover if required throughout the quarries business - the northernmost quarry being Jackdaw Crag Quarry at Tadcaster, the southernmost being Barnsdale Bar Quarry at Kirk Smeaton, Pontefract.

What will you be doing?
- Operate the Quarry in accordance with the Health and Safety document.
- Operate mobile & fixed plant in accordance with the manufacturers operating instructions and the site safe systems of work.
- Report any defects on mobile & fixed plant
- Complete daily inspection books
- Work in accordance with Environmental Management System and promote environmentally considerate work practices.
- Ensure that the quarry's production levels are maintained safely to schedule
- Maintain the inspection systems and checklists in accordance with the IMS system.
- Examine the materials produced to ensure that a high quality of product is maintained.
- Carry out basic preventive maintenance tasks on mobile & fixed plant.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in quarrying
- Knowledge/experience/qualifications in mobile plant operations specifically wheeled loading shovel, articulated dumper and tracked excavator.
- A flexible approach to working patterns and daily tasks.
