Full-time: 8:30am to 5pm (1hr lunch) Monday to Friday

Salary Banding: £11.44 (£22308) depending on experience

Position Summary:

The trainee position is a great opportunity for someone seeking a hands-on position and a chance to build, grow and nurture new skills with a long-standing employer.

Responsible for the full process of paint mixing, including colour matching and creating new formulations. Ensuring the quality is to the highest standard and recording all new batches on the quality control sheets. Supporting the warehouse team as and when required to ensure the smooth day to day running of the warehouse/ despatch department. Building good working relationships with customers, suppliers and other departments within the company.

Main Duties:

  • Mixing formulations, to make the desired paint colours for tins, aerosols and touch up pots
  • Finding and creating new formulations
  • Colour matching, quality control and recording all new formulations
  • Preparing goods for despatch, labelling and matching up delivery notes
  • Weighing out small quantities of powder and keeping the mixing room clean and tidy
  • All administration associated with the production/mixing of all paints and powders
  • Maintaining and housekeeping the mixing room
  • Supporting in the warehouse with goods in/out as and when required

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Good organisational skills, a problem solver with the ability to trouble shoot
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Requires exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent numerical and good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given and standard accepted practices
  • Good IT skills
  • Willing to learn and take on any extra training required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Physically fit as lots of manual handling
  • Able to lift weights up to 20 kilos
  • Must not be colour deficient or colour blind as must be able to identify different colours & shades
  • Due to the nature of the role, this would not be suitable for someone who has a respiratory illness or skin allergies
  • Must have effective communication skills, be an active listener and speak clearly on telephone
