Lead DevOps Engineer
- Annual Salary: £39,591 (with additional pension contributions averaging 28%)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead DevOps Engineer to join our Digital and Technology directorate. The ideal candidate will be customer and service-focused, with a keen eye on service availability, problem-solving, and root cause analysis. You will be leading a diverse team of engineers and have a significant impact on the operational strategy and tooling to support continuous delivery within our organisation.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead technical operations and have direct input into the long-term operational strategy.
- Coach and mentor IT professionals, and network with stakeholders to deliver improvements.
- Ensure value delivery through improvement and automation of systems, including infrastructure, tooling, upgrade paths, and performance monitoring/alerting/tuning.
- Work on maintenance, upgrades, automation, and service improvements to meet and exceed performance targets.
- Play an integral part in the transformation of our digital services and culture.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in incident/problem resolution and root cause analysis.
- Experience with system software build and release, and automation of manual processes.
- Demonstrable experience with Unix/Linux, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and database querying.
- Proficiency in AWS, Java, Terraform, Concourse, Ansible, Docker, JSON, SQL, GIT, and similar technologies.
- Excellent customer focus, communication, and networking skills.
- Experience in leading technical teams and mentoring less experienced members.
