Plastics Supervisor

To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Plastics Supervisor to come and join our team at our Power Park factory in Wolverhampton WV10 7QZ.

As the Plastics Supervisor you will be required to manager and oversee all manufacturing processes within the plastics division on a day to day basis to ensure capability is achieved relevant to key performance indicators relating to line performance, product quality, manufacturing consistency and cost reduction whilst maintaining Company Health & Safety and Environmental requirements

To drive continuous improvement within the plastics division

Drive new process and equipment introduction according to the group investment plan

Develop preventative maintenance systems for injection mould tooling and injection moulding machines to enable continuous improvement of reliability, performance and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support plastics operations to ensure they are delivered safely according to the company's Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Lead an ethos of continuous improvement and drive a culture of change within the operational activities of the plastics division.
  • Execute LEAN manufacturing tools and techniques to improve plastics manufacturing processes.
  • Identify manufacturing cost reductions and work with Group Process Engineer to justify change.
  • Work collaboratively across all support functions by building effective team working relationships.
  • Continually work to eliminate non-value added activities and be champion of continuous improvement within the plastics division.
  • Support in development of preventative maintenance systems for all plastics equipment.
  • Monitor to ensure an acceptable level of preventative maintenance is actioned for both the equipment and tooling.
  • Monitoring process/machinery with authority to close them down if product quality, procedures and/or work processes are not compliant with laid out standards.
  • To work closely with all operational departments to ensure the introduction of new products and the improvement of existing ones.
  • Ensuring scrap levels throughout the plastics are minimised and continually improved on existing and new products.
  • Support in the development of high standards of housekeeping - keeping areas clean, tidy and hazard free and in line with 5S standards.
  • Maintaining and developing key standards in line with the IMS.
  • Support in the successful introduction of new products and processes into the business and ensure process capability.
  • Strong focus on driving improvements of Key Performance Indicators including: line efficiency, product quality, operational costs, cost saving initiatives and capital expenditure control and the reporting of such where necessary.
  • To carry out other reasonable tasks within the scope of your operation and abilities as and when required.
  • Ensure efficient stock levels at all times which include raw materials, WIP and finished goods.

Person Specification

  • High degree of Health & Safety awareness.
  • A highly motivated individual with drive and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work as part of a 24 hour, 7 days a week, multi-site organisation.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.
  • Involved with LEAN manufacturing experience.
  • IT literacy and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Able to lead a team and develop a succession plan.
  • Organisation and planning ability.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes
  • High degree of Health & Safety awareness.
  • NVQ and BTEC level 3 in Engineering.
  • IOSH Managing Safety.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • ILM level 2 or equivalent qualification in leadership.
  • Outstanding team member with energy, commitment, drive, adaptability, creativity, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Organisation and planning ability.
  • Able to interpret and work to budgets and cost control measures
  • Strong leadership and man-management skills, and the ability to build, motivate, develop and improve multi-skilled workforces.
  • A highly motivated individual who will lead change.
  • Prioritise own workload and balance the urgent with the important.
  • Able to implement and drive performance improvement using a variety of Continuous Improvement and LEAN tools/techniques.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • High level of PC skills, proficient in MS applications.
  • Administrative skills with good attention to detail.
  • Persuasive/influencing skills.
  • An excellent level of presentation skills with the ability to provide data to all levels in the origination.
