Logistics Operations Coordinator

Our client is a well-established logistics company and due to their continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Logistics Operations Coordinator to be based at their head office near Stockport, where you will be responsible for being the first point of contact for customers, processing orders for same day and next day deliveries as well as standardised freight movements across the UK, dealing with queries, deliveries and overall delivering a 1st in class service to all.

You will play a key role in the control of resources, ensuring customer and business requirements are achieved while complying with legal responsibilities. You will manage the sourcing of and booking of vehicles in line with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the effective use of our vehicles and drivers as well as subcontracted resource.
  • Effectively manage drivers through on-going communication.
  • Ensure that the internal and external (Pallet Network) tracking systems are up to date and accurate.
  • Review allocated customers making sure that work is planned to time and correct equipment/vehicles are efficiently utilised.
  • Constantly communicate with customers and drivers to ensure KPI targets are achieved and maintained.
  • Work to deadlines and work independently when required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients.
  • Answering calls and liaising with customers chasing bookings, delivery times and dealing with queries.
  • Liaising with other pallet network depots to chase ETA's, POD's etc.
  • Working with the Operations team to ensure that customers' deliveries run smoothly and communicating any issues to customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Managing customer claims and paperwork such as POD's, delivery schedules, packing lists etc.
  • Managing and updating internal and pallet network databases accurately.
  • Calling and emailing suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiating prices and arranging bookings for customers.
  • Working with accounts to set up new businesses onto internal systems and the booking portals.
  • Providing excellent customer service and developing strong relationships with both our customers' and suppliers.

Key Skills:

  • IT Literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Good geographical knowledge and postcodes of the UK.
  • Professional and confident manner.
  • Excellent Communication & customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team and under own initiative.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in this time sensitive environment.
